What is the Melbourne Renfair?


Melbourne Renfair is a two-day fantasy Renaissance fair filled with costumed characters, immersive entertainment, vendors, live combat, knights in armour, jousting, dragons, feasts, magic, whimsy and so much more. 

It’s a celebration of all things medieval and fantastical, whether you're a seasoned fantasy enthusiast, into historical reenactment, larp or just a curious on looker looking for a magical day out.

Yarra Valley Racecourse
Armstrong Grove, Yarra Glen VIC 3775

Can I get there by public transport?
Yes. The closest train station is Lilydale Station on the Lilydale Line.
We will have free shuttle buses running between Lilydale Station and the event venue throughout the weekend.
A full timetable will be released closer to the event.

What are the event hours?
Saturday, May 16: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Sunday, May 17: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

TICKETS

Where can I buy tickets?
Tickets will be available online through our website www.renfair.au 

We will have more info on ticket pricing soon. 

Will tickets be available at the gate?
No, we have a limited capacity venue and fully expect to sell out well before the event. 

We aim to have ticket info available for several months before they actually go on sale. 

COSTUMES & DRESS-UP

Do I have to wear a costume?
Costumes are encouraged but not required. Many guests come dressed in medieval, fantasy, or historical attire, from knights and elves to pirates and peasants.

Can I wear a weapon as part of my costume?
Foam or clearly fake weapons are allowed. Real weapons or anything sharp/metallic must be left at home.

FOOD & DRINK

Will there be food at the event?
Yes! We’ll have a wide variety of food stalls offering everything from hearty feasts to sweet treats, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.

Can I bring my own food and drinks?
Small snacks and water bottles are fine. Full meals, alcohol, BBQs, large coolers, and picnic umbrellas are not permitted.

Will alcohol be served?
Yes, in our licensed tavern area. You must be 18+ and have valid ID.

Can I bring alcohol?

No, this is a licensed venue. Alcohol will be available for purchase on site in designated areas.

PARKING & ACCESS

Is there parking available?
Yes, there is ample free parking on-site. Additional parking for accessibility needs will be clearly signed.

Is bus parking available?

Yes, there is space for buses to park on site.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
Parts of the event are held on grass and gravel, but most areas have bitumen paved paths and the general areas like the Goblin Bazaar and feasting areas have concrete floors.

We will have accessibility paths and facilities in place where possible.

ENTERTAINMENT

What kind of entertainment will there be?
Expect live performances, jousting, sword fighting, music, fantasy creatures, roaming actors, magic shows, workshops, and so much more. A full schedule will be released closer to the event.

Can I perform or volunteer?
Yes! Applications for entertainers and volunteers will open soon.

STALLHOLDERS

Can I apply to be a vendor?
Absolutely. Applications for the Goblin Bazaar (indoor stalls) and outdoor traders will open soon.

We will also have an Artisan Alley for lost trades and other demonstrations.

OTHER QUESTIONS

Is this a family-friendly event?
Yes, it’s designed for all ages. Some areas or activities may have age restrictions or warnings, which will be clearly signed.

Are pets allowed?

No pets are allowed, except for registered assistance animals.

What if it rains?
The RenFair runs rain or shine! Bring cloaks and boots if the weather turns stormy.
